CNA Financial began its business life in 1897 as the Continental Casualty Company in Detroit where its primary focus was insuring Railroad workers. CNA became the parent company of Continental Assurance Company of North American in 1967 and moved the company to Chicago. Today, its focus is on property and casualty insurance for businesses. They do not provide auto insurance.
